G.R.I.P. Hyper Steel Hybrid Review
The G.R.I.P. Hyper Steel Hybrids from gogrip.com are the perfect set of utility clubs to replace your hard to hit long irons. If you're anything like me, you always try to avoid hitting any irons 5 or lower. Now, you have another option.
The first thing that intrigued me as I pulled the club out of the box was the unique grip. It was strange, yet comfortable, really comfortable. Up until now, I had never felt a grip like the one on the G.R.I.P. Hyper Steel Hybrids. It was easy to grip and I never felt the club slip in my hands. I was able to keep a nice solid grip on the club while keeping my hands loose.
Another great first impression I got from the G.R.I.P. Hyper Steel Hybrid was the appearance. They're equipped with a bold blue finish and a sweet looking head cover. It looks fierce and like it means business. It even looks good when you're looking down at it on address. Now that I've established that this blue beauty looks and feels good, it's time to see how it reacts to the course.
I tested the 3H model out of the hybrid set (2H - 5H).
I took the 3H hybrid out on an extremely nice day. It was 70 degrees and sunny. The first shot I ended up hitting with it was from about 225 yards out on a par 5 in the dead center of the fairway. In most circumstances I would of hit a 3 wood, but because I was so excited to test my new hybrid I pulled it from my bag. I took a few practice swings and the club felt good. I was hoping the first shot I take with it would end up good since it sometimes takes me a round or two to get used to a new club. I then addressed the ball and swung. I made perfect connection off the Hyper Steel face and sent the ball flying. As soon as the ball came off the club face, I noticed that it had much more speed than its iron equivalent which equates to more distance. The ball soared straight and landed maybe 30 yards in front of the green which put me in a perfect position for a chip shot onto the green.
I was only able to hit the 3H hybrid a few more times, but I was consistently hitting it right around 190 - 195 yards and straight. I even took one shot out of the rough with it that went straight too. Usually I have a problem of the club face opening in the thick stuff, but this club stayed true and soared straight.
The G.R.I.P. Hyper Steel Hybrids all come with weighted screws in the heal and toe of the club for fade control and slice reduction. I didn't move the weighted screws from where they were originally set, but was still hitting with it straighter than an arrow.
Overall, this club is a great deal. I loved hitting with it and for only $70.00, it easily compares to clubs double its price. The bottom line is these clubs look good and they perform. I know I'm definitely keeping it in my arsenal of clubs for a long time. Head on over to gogrip.com to customize your set of hybrids today!
