G.R.I.P. Fairway Wood Review

Last week, I was able to take out the new Fairway Wood by G.R.I.P. and give it a test run. I played two courses with it and was shocked by how well it performed.

Let me begin by saying I typically don't have much success with my Fairway Woods on those dreaded par 5's. For some reason the clubs never felt right and I just couldn't get under the ball to get it up in the air even when I was dead center of the fairway. However, G.R.I.P. has given me a new perspective on that aspect of my game.

Rather than get into all the details of how I ended up with the 5 Fairway Wood, I'll get right into my review.

The first thing I fell in love with after pulling the club from the box was the club sleeve. Unlike a typical club sleeve that just slides over the club head, this sleeve actually slides over and little magnets clamp it shut. It's easily the coolest club sleeve I've ever seen. I'll see if I can get around to posting a video within the next week or so. After all, they say seeing is believing. Right?

Now onto the club.

Each Fairway Woods is equipped with their signature grip. The grip holds up in any weather situation and allows you to hold the club firmly without using the vulcan death grip. Furthermore, they're finished with the same blue finish all the other G.R.I.P. clubs are known for. Personally, I love the added color in my bag.

I used the 5 Fairway Wood and as far as performance for price, there is no parallel. I was able to hit solid shots on and off the tee. Surprisingly enough, I even hit decent with it out of the rough. I'm no longer afraid to hit a Fairway Wood that's not off the tee. Unfortunately, I think I may enjoy hitting this club even more than my 3 hybrid. Every shot I hit is dead straight and the club sounds awesome.

So far, I haven't found anything I dislike in this club and I plan on buying a 3 Fairway Wood in the near future. If I hit the 3 as solid as the 5 I may even have to invest in a new G.R.I.P. driver.

Overall, the G.R.I.P. Fairway Woods are solid clubs for a great price. Now go buy a set and see for yourself!
